Acne Herbal
Remedies
Acne herbal remedies are quite effective in treating acne. Although acne isn't life threatening (unless you're
talking to a teenager), it's hardly a pleasant condition.
Acne is the result of excessive excretion of sebum by the sebaceous glands. This build up of sebum clogs up pores
and the natural reaction of the body in this condition is to form pimples (both white heads and black heads).
Although most believe that pimples or acne are only suffered by teenager this isn't true. acne is suffered by
many age groups even those in their 50's.
What is true however is that acne is more the outcome of hormonal swings and bad diet and toxic build up inside
the body than anything else. This is why most acned herbal remedies focus on cleansing the skin and better home
remedies for acne focus on cleaning up or detoxifying the system.
A good systemic acne remedy is to drink a class or two of wheat grass juice daily to
purify and detoxify your system.
One good home remedy for acne is aloe vera. Not only does it help clear acne but it also helps with sun damaged
skin. Aloe vera soaps and skin treatment packs are widely available. Aloe has excellent antibacterial
properties.
Goldenseal is useful for reducing oozing.
Applying mint juice (preferably fresh) on a nightly basis is also a fairly effective home
remedy for acne.
Milk thistle is another acne remedy that works to strengthen the liver. Seeing that the
livers function is to detoxify the body, this a good systemic way to clean up an acne problem.
Other good home remedies for acne is through a superior diet. Elimination of fatty foods and chocolate in favor
of foods rich in vitamin C and E is another good cure for acne. It's important to note that synthetic sources of
vitamin C and E are not nearly as good as having a diet that is rich in natural sources of C and E as found in
fruits and vegetables. Both vitamin C and E are also high in anti-oxidants and so they help with overall skin
health.
