of this type. Its symptoms are easy to spot such as dry and red skin lesions (or plaques) that are
covered with silvery skin. The plaques can appear on any part of the body – be it the knees, elbows, arms,
legs, genitals or the inside of the mouth. The skin lesions may or may not be itchy but if it is scratched,
it tends to swell. Depending on the severity of your Psoriasis, you may have only a few plaques or if your
case is worse, the skin around the plaque may crack and bleed.
The next type is Guttate Psoriasis. Its most common symptom is the appearance of small, red bumps on
the skin. Most often, it suddenly occurs after the person just had an infection such as strep throat. This
may last for a few weeks although it can be treated by antibiotics. This affects mostly children and young
adults.
Inverse Psoriasis, also known as Flexular
Psoriasis, is another type and it usually occurs in the skin fold areas of the body such as the armpits, genital
areas, groins and under the breasts. The symptoms of Inverse Psoriasis include having smooth, red and moist
patches, pain and itch in the said area as well as sensitivity to sweat friction.
A rare and severe type is Pustular Psoriasis. Its symptoms include having small and pus-filled
blisters on the skin. The pustules at first may appear reddish before turning brown and after some time, it
peels. Fever, chills, fatigue and severe itching may also be experienced by the person suffering from it.
When people are diagnosed with Pustular Psoriasis, they may need to be brought to the hospital when symptoms
start to appear. This type of Psoriasis can be triggered by emotional stress, medication or
chemicals.
Other types of this skin condition include Nail Psoriasis
which is characterized by having abnormal nail growth and discoloration. Scalp Psoriasis happens
when the person starts having dry and scaly patched on the scalp. Erythodermic Psoriasis – considered to be
the least common type – occurs when the entire body is covered with a red and peeling rash that can be very
itchy.
