Herbs For Eczema and
Other Natural Remedies For Eczema
More people today are open to trying various herbs for Eczema. Eczema is a skin condition that is
characterized by having skin that is dry, reddish and inflamed. Although its exact cause remains unknown, it
is believed that this happens when the top layer of the skin loses sufficient amount of moisture making it
more vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. But aside from this, Eczema is also said to be the result of the
body’s inability to detoxify.
When this happens, the waste is instead eliminated through the skin and therefore resulting in Eczema. There are
different over the counter topical creams that people with Eczema can use but there are also herbal remedies that
can treat the said condition.
Herbs for Eczema can be classified into two functions. The first type is used topical and is applied
on the skin primarily to soothe it. An herb that has the said function is Jojoba Oil. This
herb is effective in soothing, healing and calming the skin. It is an essential oil that can easily penetrate
the skin, making it more effective. Although it can be used alone, people with Eczema can also mix it with
Tea Tree Oil or other preferred essential oils.
Another herb that has the same effect as Jojoba Oil is Chickweed. It is a mild herb
that works to help calm irritated skin while at the same time draw toxins from it. Dip a cotton ball on
Chickweed and apply it to the affected area. Chickweed can also be taken in tea form. Both
Chamomile and Licorice are also effective external herbs for eczema. These
can be directly applied on the rashes or on the affected area for itch and pain relief. The said herbs are
good in helping reduce inflammation of the skin.
Other Herbs for Eczema
The second type of herbs for Eczema works internally. These herbal remedies are used to detoxify and flush toxins
from the body and this is important given that improper waste elimination is seen as one of the causes of Eczema. A
good herb for Eczema is Burdock. It is believed to be one of the most effective herbs for
detoxification and is particularly reliable in eliminating wastes between the layers of the skin.
Burdock can be taken both in tea and tincture form. It is important to note that only its roots, leaves and stems
are to be used when it will be taken as an herbal remedy for Eczema. Green Tea is a great
antioxidant. Aside from that, it is also used to prevent inflammation of the skin. People suffering from Eczema can
take 250 mg to 500 mg Green Tea capsules each day. An herb that is just as good in detoxifying the body is
Milk Thistle. It is also able to boost the body’s immune system and strengthen the liver and these
can help reduce the frequency and severity of Eczema symptoms. 80 mg to 160 mg of Milk Thistle can be take three
times each day.
