           Herbal Remedies For Hypertension

Getting plenty of exercise and eating foods that are low in sodium is crucial to maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. However, for some people, changing their diet and exercising is simply not enough. Many people do not want to have to depend on prescription medications to maintain their blood pressure, and they may not have to.

There are several herbal remedies for hypertension that have been shown to decrease blood pressure and even prevent heart disease. They have little or no side effects and are much cheaper than getting a prescription from the doctor.

Eating no more than four cloves of garlic per day can have a dramatic effect on your blood pressure. For people who do not want to eat fresh garlic, there are supplements available over the counter that work as well. Garlic has shown to thin the blood, which makes it easier on your heart to pump the blood, thus lowering blood pressure.

Many people use garlic to decrease their blood pressure naturally. In fact, garlic is the most widely recognized of all of the herbal remedies for hypertension. Hawthorn berries are another great herb for lowering blood pressure. These berries are a very safe and effective remedy for hypertension.

The reason that they work is because they dilate the blood vessels, making it easier for the blood to flow through them. These berries also strengthen the heart muscle, which further aids in lowering blood pressure. They can either be eaten fresh or in capsule form.

Green tea and ginko biloba are two more herbal remedies for hypertension. Studies show that even drinking a small amount of green tea on a daily basis is effective in treating and preventing hypertension.

Though studies are limited, they have shown that green tea can reduce the risk of developing hypertension by 65%. For best results, drinking twenty ounces of green tea daily is recommended.

Ginko biloba works by improving circulation of the blood and widening the arteries. This helps decrease high blood pressure because the heart does not have to work as hard to pump the blood. Because of it's ability to improve circulation, it also helps improve memory because there is more blood flow in the brain as well as the heart. Both green tea and ginko biloba can be purchased over the counter in capsule form.

There are many other herbal remedies for hypertension that have been used for hundreds of years, but these are among the most popular. It is important to monitor your blood pressure with your doctor.

A Note Of Caution:Though these herbs are safe and effective, they should not be used in conjunction with prescription hypertension medications without notifying your doctor.

They could cause the blood to be too thin, which could be dangerous in the event that you should start bleeding.

Other beneficial herbs that ease elevated blood pressure are Rauwolfia and folic acid. Also if you're suffering from hypertension and are a smoker, quitting should be at the top of your priority list.
