Eczema Skin Symptoms and Other Eczema Symptoms
Before discussing what the Eczema symptoms are, here is an overview of what this condition is.
Eczema is a term used to describe inflammation of the skin. Most doctors refer to it as “the itch that
rashes.” People of all ages can be affected by it although majority of them experience its onset before
reaching the age of 5. Most often, Eczema will have been resolved in children by the age of 3 but in others
Eczema will recur. People who suffer from Eczema tend to have it in their family if not other allergic
conditions such as asthma and hay fever. Although it has different types, Eczema skin symptoms are almost
similar.
Appearance of Eczema may vary from person to person but it usually is characterized by having dry
and reddened skin that feels itchy or burns. One of the first Eczema symptoms usually is intense itching. The
rash would later appear red and bumpy. There are times too that the bump appears to be filled with fluid. If
the person scratches it, the fluid may ooze and in time may lead to sores with crusts. If this persists,
painful cracks may appear on the affected area.
Eczema can affect almost any part of the body although in adults, it is most often found on the
neck, flexures of the arms (opposite of the elbows) or flexures of the legs (opposite of the knees). Infants
meanwhile usually get Eczema on the face and torso. Once they learn how to crawl, they can start having
Eczema on their elbows and knees. Usually the diaper area is not affected by Eczema. Other areas that can be
have Eczema include the forehead, cheeks, legs and scalp.
Often, Eczema skin symptoms last for only a few days. If it persists, it is referred to as chronic
dermatitis. If you suddenly develop a rash and you are aware that Eczema runs in the family, you should go to
the doctor to have it diagnosed. You should also go to your doctor once you have noticed that have yellowish
pus-filled blisters as this may be because of a bacterial infection. It is also important for people
suffering from it that when they are experiencing Eczema symptoms, they may be more prone to other viral skin
diseases such as cold sores and genital herpes.
